Substack just dropped a new feature and I think it is perfectly timed. If you are a subscriber you can now engage in publication-level chat! Considering all the noise happening over at TwitterHQ and the privacy hellfire that is Meta/ Facebook, new mediums of digital community are welcomed. I am a huge fan of the medium that is email + email newsletters, but it is generally a slower, more thought-out cadence. Having something with less friction, that’s faster, and a little raw is nice – without having to converse via the main social media channels.
I am not sure how I plan to use it yet, but I am excited to give it a try. See Substacks default “getting started” info below.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app (messages are sent via the app, not email). Turn on push notifications so you don’t miss a chance to join conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Chat is only on iOS for now, but chat is coming to the Android app soon.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
Hi Thor. This feature is only available to iPhone users at the moment. Please remember that anyone with an Android phone is excluded
