On the day this goes out I will be working from home for over 100 days. Damn. This situation we are all in is crappy, but I am very glad about the awareness around remote work that has come from it. I am not going to chat your eyes out about remote work or COVID.
What I do want to talk about is productivity related, I want to talk about HEY.
HEY has been the talk of Silicon Valley for the past few weeks. Not only are they making a splash because of their new take on email, but also because of how they challenged Apple. I won’t go into that, but The Verge does a great job covering this in multiple articles and a special edition of the Vergecast.
I have gone through all the feels when it has some to HEY. Loving all the wonderfully thought out features and hating all the things I believe they missed. I am not going to go into detail here, but I do hope you’ll read my article about all my thoughts on the matter.
This letter is out a day later than expected, sorry, killer migraines, summer is back.
I do have to also mention, Dark, the amazing show on Netflix is back. It is the third and final season! If you haven’t watched it, you need to. If you end up watching it, reply to this or leave a comment and tell me how much you loved it. You’re welcome.
Lastly, Apple had its yearly WWDC event. It was the first that was 100% remote and honestly, it was great! The production quality was amazing and the story telling was at a different level because it was prerecorded. They announced a lot of stuff, some minor, some really major. My favorites were:
The last one is by far the most interesting. Being a minimalist and someone that intends to live tiny in the future, having a machine that is small but incredibly powerful is quite freeing. This switch to Apple silicon will do just that and I am ready for it.
Yearly, WWDC comes and goes, then I count the days until I cave and put the betas on my devices. So far I have abstained, though I doubt I'll last much longer 🤓.
